Information on Z39.50 access

API access to GBV databases

The GBV databases can be queried via application programming interfaces like SRU and Z39.50. SRU and Z39.50 are network protocols used to query remote databases and to retrieve records in various bibliographic formats in a machine-readable manner.

Reference management

Reference management applications such as Citavi, EndNote, Reference Manager or Refworks are using this kind of access to retrieve bibliographic data for creating reference lists. Many GBV databases are already configured in these applications. If you use a bibliographic management application and miss a database of the GBV, please contact the provider of the software.

Information for libraries and companies
